Join Kir for a class all about CAKE! In this afternoon class, you’ll learn two of Kir’s favorite cake recipes - chocolate buttermilk and citrus olive oil, plus learn frostings, fillings and assembly techniques.

What to expect:

  • Instruction/demo and light hands on work.

  • Students will each build, frost and decorate their own 4-inch chocolate cakes to take home.

  • 2 tried and true favorite cake recipes:

    • Sugar Cubes famous-Chocolate Stout Bundt Cake- glazed with bittersweet chocolate ganache and Maldon sea salt.

    • Most perfect, Citrus Almond Layer Cake- seasonal fruit compote filling and honey Mascarpone whipped cream.

  • Light snacks and sips

  • Custom recipe book

Class to be offered on Saturday, September 14th, Noon - 3pm.

About Kir

Originally from Chicago, celebrated baker Kir Jensen has made Portland her home for the past 20 years. She is best known for her beloved dessert food cart and bake shop, The Sugar Cube.  Kir’s creations have been featured in Sunset, Food & Wine and Saveur Magazine, and she is the author of Sugar Cube: 50 Deliciously Twisted Treats from the Sweetest Little Food Cart on the Planet (Chronical Books, 2012) .
