This year, skip the brunch lines and treat the mom in your life to an extra-special Mother’s Day brunch and bubbles class! Our teacher for the day will be cookbook author Andrea Slonecker. Highlighting some of her favorite springtime brunch recipes from her new cookbook, Wine Food: New Adventures in Drinking and Cooking (co-written with Cookshop neighbor Dana Frank of Bar Norman), the menu will include Tropical Yogurt Parfaits with Seedy Cashew Crunch; a cheesy, layered Torta di Frittata with spring greens and mushrooms; and savory Falafel Waffles topped with a fresh salad of cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta. You’ll get to enjoy a selection of white and rosé sparkling wines as you cook together and learn in this easy-like-Sunday-morning class. Then we’ll sit down and toast to mom before devouring the delicious meal. (Vegetarian and gluten-free friendly!)

What to expect:

  • Class will include all instruction, tools, recipes and ingredients.

  • Each student will enjoy some light nibbles and a welcome drink at the start of class.

  • There will be some demo, and some hands-on instruction.

  • Class will end with students sitting down to share the items they made, along with sparkling wine, coffee, and tea (a special non-alcoholic beverage will be also be available).

About Our Instructor:

ANDREA SLONECKER is an author of six cookbooks, including the newly released Wine Food: New Adventures in Drinking and Cooking and The Picnic, which won a 2016 International Association of Culinary Professionals Award for best general cookbook. She has helped fellow writers and chefs with more than ten additional book projects, including James Beard Award-winners Six Seasons: A New Way with Vegetables and Roots: The Definitive Compendium, and the seminal Thai cookery book, Pok Pok. An avid traveler, her recipes are inspired by diverse cultures. Herbs, spices, lots of vegetables, and possibly too much cheese play into her cooking. She was a chef instructor at The Art Institute of Portland for three years, followed by a stint teaching at the renowned Portland cooking school, The Chef Studio. She continues to teach classes, sharing ideas on topics covered in her books and cuisines learned abroad.
