Join us for our new monthly Cheese Class with Patrick Dougherty! We will guide you through some of our favorites, discussing the different styles and processes while pairing locally produced beverages and cheeses along with additional accouterments that will take each taste to the next level. May’s class will cover 5 cheeses from Switzerland, along with fun pairings (think unique condiments like moustarda and jams, plus beverages).
About our Instructor:
Patrick Dougherty is a Portland native and former chef with over 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry, including several years as Sous Chef at local institution Tasty n Son’s. After stepping away from the kitchen but eager to remain in the world of food, a chance encounter with the 2020 Best Cheesemonger in the country sparked a newfound passion for cheese—offering a fresh challenge after years of burnout. That curiosity led him to Amsterdam, where he spent three years working as a Cheesemonger and fully embracing his identity as a proud “Curd Nerd.” Now back in Portland, Patrick brings his deep knowledge and enthusiasm to his role as a Cheesemonger at Cowbell, where he continues to share his love of cheese with the community.
